Lantek, a pioneering Alava-based multinational in the digital transformation of the sheet metal cutting and processing sector, has participated in the 1st Congress on Applied Artificial Intelligence in the Basque Country, which took place on May 15th.
The municipality of Zamudio (Vizcaya) was the setting for this landmark event in the region, organized by the Basque Artificial Intelligence Center (BAIC), of which Lantek became a partner in 2023.
The congress, aimed at consolidating the Basque Country as a benchmark in the field and accelerating the implementation of AI in the Basque industry, was an interesting meeting point for experts, academics, and professionals in this field to exchange experiences and knowledge about the AI ecosystem, with the aim of boosting innovation and technological development in the region.
Among the participating companies, we highlight the presentation by Gemma Nogales, Chief of Human Resources, who discussed trends in the use of artificial intelligence in selection processes.
In 2023, Lantek joined BAIC, reinforcing the company’s commitment to being an active part of the push for the implementation of AI and data strategy in the Basque industry with a clear focus on international positioning.
Investment and commitment to R&D have been key in Lantek’s more than 35 years of journey, and in the technological leadership it holds in the sector. The close collaboration with over 150 reference machine tool manufacturers worldwide supports this commitment to leading the sector’s transformation through software.
Proof of this is its participation, at the state and European levels, in the collaborative project aiXia, which aims to launch a secure and trustworthy Federated AI Services infrastructure. In fact, one of the company’s Strategic Hazitek projects has been highlighted as excellent.
To support this major commitment, Lantek has doubled its R&D team over the last two years to continue accelerating the commercial launch of pioneering products in the sheet metal transformation market.
