Manufacturing IT expert Lantek had another successful year at EuroBLECH – albeit virtual. This year’s EuroBLECH Digital Innovation Summit was the online version of the trade show for sheet metal manufacturers. Lantek’s full range of manufacturing solutions were very popular with visitors of the digital show. The IT expert for sheet metal manufacturers gained great interest in their software solutions and presentation at the EuroBLECH Digital Innovation Summit.
Lantek Data Area Manager, José Antonio Lorenzo, presented “Data: The other raw material of sheet metal – challenges and opportunities,” on Wed. Oct. 28, 2020.
In particular, the presentation “Data: The other raw material of sheet metal - challenges and opportunities,” by Lantek Data Area Manager, José Antonio Lorenzo was attended by many online visitors. Attendees benefited from the expertise Lantek has gained over the last 30 years from supporting sheet metal manufacturing companies of any size in their digital transformation.
"Sheet metal processing is our business and your business - and we do everything we can to ensure that you can work as efficiently as possible," said José Antonio Lorenzo to his audience at the EuroBLECH Digital Innovation Summit. "Today I want to talk about the other raw material in your company: data," he added.
Lorenzo’s appearance was part of Lantek’s contribution to the EuroBLECH virtual lecture series. In the 15-minute presentation, Lorenzo’s main points were solidified with short explainer videos. In an equally long live Q&A that followed, Christoph Lenhard, Sales Manager for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, posed frequently asked questions from customers to Lorenzo.
In addition to their participation in the lecture series, visitors could also register for personal meetings or connect in real-time with 17 Lantek experts available online. In these live chats, Lantek experts answered visitors’ unique questions face-to-face and made initial business contacts. “Interested visitors and customers have embraced this new way of meeting very well,” says Lenhard. “Many of the conversations were about specific use cases in which our portfolio can be helpful. Many potential clients have realized through the current crisis how quickly they must digitize their processes," he concludes.
Digitization is not an end in itself
Lorenzo made it clear in his presentation that digitization is not an end, but “simply the use of your other raw material - data.” He adds, “You have to define and clean the data in order to make the most out of it for your business.” He then went on to describe how, with standardized data collection and auditing methods as well as a defined data flow, isolated systems can be linked and thus made more efficient. This would then improve business insights and data-driven decision making, in turn improving manufacturing efficiency and relationships with customers. "Companies that do not have a clear strategy for using their data will surely be left behind by their competition in the future," predicts Lorenzo.
Those who wanted to find out more could learn the advantages of working with Lantek by watching any of seven videos hosted on their virtual trade show booth page during the EuroBLECH Digital Innovation Summit. "It was a completely new format for all of us," said Lenhard. "It was a very good alternative to in-person trade shows, especially in these times," he said in conclusion of the online trade show.
