With the purpose to increase its presence in Asia, Lantek, a supplier of CAD/CAM software for the sheet metal industry, opened a new branch office in the Indian city of Bangalore in September 2004.
The opening of this new branch office is the consequence of the significant growth experienced by Lantek in India in the last two years, as well as the promising expectations of sheet metal machine tool consumption in this country, which is seen as an important growth opportunity for CAD/CAM sales by the Spanish company. Lantek`s branch office in Bangalore is made up by a team of six people, dedicated to commercial activities and technical support to customers, distributors and OEMs. Lantek will also benefit from the great opportunities India offers for investment in R and D.
""We will continue increasing our investment in R and D in order to provide the industry with first class products that are continuously being improved. Our office in Bangalore will also be an R and D center that along with our developing department in Spain consisting of 25 programming engineers, will significantly increase our development capacity"" states Gabika.
Alberto Gabika, Commercial Director of Lantek, highlights that ""up till now, we had approached the Indian market through a network of distributors and agents but due to the growth we have experienced lately, we noticed that this market was demanding our direct presence in the country. By having our own office in India, with our own staff exclusively trained for the commercialization and support of our products, we can guarantee a high quality service for our Indian customers and machine tool manufacturers. With this branch office we also increase our international presence, and more specifically in the Asian market, where Lantek has already a significant strength, with branch offices in Japan and South Korea and with more than 400 customers in Asia.""
""With this new office in India, Lantek reached the number of 8 branch offices abroad. Since 1991, when we opened our first branch in France, we have developed an important internationalization process that has allowed us to gain an important market share in countries as technologically advanced as Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, United States, Japan and Korea. This has made it possible for Lantek to sell more than 70% of its production in foreign countries and to reach the historical figure of more than 4000 customers in 67 countries all over the world. We have the strongest international direct presence among our competitors. We are, no doubt, a world-wide reference in the CAD/CAM software for the sheet metal industry,"" points out Gabika.
